Technology & Machinery

Almeda is fully and vertically integrated textile factory with flexible and brand new state-of-the art technology consisting of the following machineries and equipment:

Spinning Department

Equipped with 15,000 ring spindles and 2,400 open end rotors of Rieter model (Switzerland technology).  Moreover, the company is equipped with Murata model winding, doubling and twisting machines, and Luwa model air cardiving machines.  The company produces different yarns in the range of Ne 7 to Ne 80. 

Using the above ring spindles and open end rotors, Almeda can annualy produce 7 million Kgs of yarn in 100% cotton & man made fibres of blends of any ratio. The spinning department is designed to process carded, combed, waxed and twisted yarn from cotton grown indigenously in Ethiopia.

Weaving Department

The weaving department equipped with 136 looms of Italy & Germany origin of Somet, Dornier and Vamatex models, has the capacity of producing more than 16 million meters of fabric annually . The product mix ranges from drill, twill, poplin, sheeting, shirtingterry towel to heavy duty canvas.

Finishing Department

Fully equipped processing department with state of the art technology from Germany, Holland and Italy including: wet processing, bleaching mercerizing, washing, printing, stentering, dyeing, steaming, drying, sanforizing, jigger dyeing, singeing, desizing and calendaring machines has a production capacity of more than15 million mts. of processed fabric.

Knitting & Knit Dyeing Unit

The Knitting & Knit Dyeing Unit equipped with a German technology of Mayer & Cie model knitting machines, overmir model dyeing & dryer m/cs and wiss model squizer & calendaring machines has a production capacity of 3 tones/day. 

Garment Department

More than 250 sewing machines,  about 75% of them Juki type of different varieties including: single & double needle, feed of the arm, bar-tacking, button hole &  button setter machines.

The existing capacity of the garments unit is about one million pieces of basic shirt equivalent garments.

Almeda is providing its export and local customers with products such as home textile, work wear, hospital wear, T-Shirts, polo shirts, shirts, trousers, military uniforms, canvas etc

Work Force

Currently, the factory has more than 2,800 employees.  The spinning, weaving and finishing departments are operating in three shifts of 8 hrs. /shift.  The garment department is working in two shifts of 8 hrs. /shift.

Products

Shirts, trousers, t-shirts, jackets, dressing gowns, overalls, over coats, nightdresses, fancy items, home and hospital textiles including: bed sheet, pillow case, draw sheet etc. canvas, terry towel, dyed and printed fabrics, grey fabric, and different counts of open end and ring spun yarns.

Expansion

The necessary preparation is underway to commence implementation of the garment expansion project on a turn-key basis. The new garment factory will have more than 1,000 sewing machines along with full size cutting tables and cloth spreading machines, computer aided design and pattern making comprising of auto cad digitizer & plotter; and different state of the art garment finishing and quality control devices and equipments.
